Minimum Standards
What are your standards?
We all adhere to them at work and in our relationships, but what about ourselves? I know, I'm guilty of letting myself go. The type where I could maintain a habit for a year and then suddenly lose interest. After pondering, I made a minimum standards list as my promise to keep. A promise to myself.
I strive for excellence to live a life that grows in value. And it all starts with accountability. Once you have constraints, completing a task and finding satisfaction is easier. As a designer, I had less structure. The less I had, the more I found myself procrastinating or overthinking. This followed into other aspects of my life, too.
I wrote a long list of things I didn't want in life, then found the opposite. I gave it a few days, then returned to it to find out what I thought I could be happy without to refine the list. Eventually, I ended up with my Penthouse Minimum Standard. These are the things I'd like to hold myself accountable to feel a sense of contempt continually. Luckily, many of them are infinite games. Take what works for me and revise it to be your own. This was how I worked my way out of a low period in life after letting myself go.
Our top daily priority should be meeting the minimum requirements for life. This keeps our mind, body, and spirit in sync.
Who wants to live a shit life anyway?
