What's your freedom number?
We all have a figure. It makes life easier. Whether we're working towards something or out of debt.
I'll go first. Mine is $6,000 per month.
Why?
I've made some incredible decisions over the past few years, and some really shit ones. Now, I'm fixing the bad ones and paying for my inexperienced entrepreneurial mistakes.
"Next month will be different; we'll pull it back," I let myself believe for five months. Our burn rate was $50,000 per month, and revenue growth stagnated.
The costs were terminal to the company and my personal finances.
As a result, I'm in the rebuilding phase. My freedom number doesn't feel lofty or very ambitious for my standards, but it's a goal.
Momentum is the true force multiplier that you need to improve your life. It's kinda like starting anything new; it's difficult at first. Once you pick up momentum, things become more enjoyable. I'm working towards that stage again.
My life plan hasn't changed much, but my armor now has some dents and scrapes that tell tales. I'll get to explain how I won the war despite all the fights I've lost along the way someday.
For now, $6,000 is my freedom number, which unlocks enough fun while also fixing problems from the past.
If I were to get a job suited to my experience, I'd need to earn around $100,000 per year before tax in New York. Or, sell a $1,000 service eight times a month and put some money aside for taxes.
You know my number, what's yours?
