Rullow Jacobs is a furniture and decor retailer for the first-time home owners and experienced design aficionado. The Jersey City based retailer delights customers telling stories behind each hand-picked product.
Rullow Jacobs wanted its debut site to feel like a British-luxe showroom, spotlighting world-class designers and premium décor with a focus on storytelling. We had eight weeks, a lean dev budget that ruled out more experimental micro-interactions a nd animation, and a surprise two-week data-cleanup hiccup.
We designed a high-end Shopify storefront that told product and designer stories through bold visuals and interactive layouts.
I led all design and interaction work, managed the dev handoff, and worked closely with the agency, the founder, and the marketing team throughout the project.
The site paired Playfair Display and F37 Foundry's sans serif to balance elegance with a grounded British feel.
We used asymmetry, oversized type, and neutral tones like pastel cream and deep black to create a clean, luxe aesthetic.
Storytelling was core—from homepage press-style updates to brand bios and designer histories, we focused on guiding curious browsers through discovery.
The cascading homepage carousel and vertical content stream helped create a magazine-like feel.
The project is currently being prepped for launch, with the founder finalizing the product catalog.
Early client feedback was strong—they said the work captured the brand's heritage and delivered a slick, rich experience.
I was most proud of the journey we created from homepage to product—encouraging curiosity and exploration before any buying decision.
The focus wasn't just conversion—it was storytelling that made people linger.
